Stem Cell “Research And Cures”

Abortion Incorporated’s Latest Euphemism vs The Truth About Stem Cell Research

Abortion, Inc, and it’s subsidiary marching band of dedicated politicians and public servants, have a new entry to their dictionary of “let’s not really think of it as abortion” euphemisms. These carefully crafted, focus group tested, code phrases are intended to be incorporated into the American lexicon in order to ease the collective conscience of our country when referring to the heartless destruction of the earliest stages of God’s miraculous gift of life. And if Ab, Inc can succeed in getting America to accept the willful destruction of our utterly helpless unborn, as business as usual, it may succeed in eradicating any conscience in our country whatsoever.

Suction Aspiration, an abortion procedure in which a human fetus is torn from the mother’s womb by a vacuum device, is merely another type of “Family Planning”.

Intact Dilation and Evacuation / Intrauterine Cranial Decompression Abortion, more typically referred to as Partial Birth Abortion, is a procedure in which an expectant mother, in the very advanced stages of third trimester, requests her family abortionist to terminate the impending birth of her child by crushing the child’s developed cranium with a forceps (”cranial decompression’).

If the expectant mother in question had suffered a gunshot to the abdomen, which had killed her prospective child, the perpetrator would be charged with murder. But when a very-soon-to-be mom stops in at the neighborhood clinic and asks the staff to crush the skull of her unborn child (even as it passes through the birth canal) before its existence should burden her life, we merely have a matter of exercising one’s “Reproductive Rights”.

During several state ballot initiatives offered in the last year’s mid-term elections, Ab Inc lobbied voters to approve state constitutional amendments which would imbed the following procedures into the law of the local land:

  • fertilization of human eggs for the expressed purpose of destroying them
  • the subsequent cloning of embryonic life for the same purpose
  • “harvesting” of human eggs for similar purposes of “research”

All of these wonderful procedures are referenced under the gentle and hopeful generic term “Stem Cell Research and Cures”. What was left out of the titling of these initiatives was the key word “Embryonic”. As with all of the hard core abortion lobby’s euphemistic rhetoric, the intention was to mislead. And in Missouri, the deception worked. The people of the “Show Me State” brought the pig in the poke and, by a narrow margin, voted to incorporate the above procedures into their state constitution.

No doubt many of those who voted for the initiative knew exactly what was involved. However, there is also no doubt, that many Missourians just never took the time to get the facts right about a major issue facing our nation. Compassion driven by heartrending, but deviously distorted television and radio ads, they unwittingly cast their votes for something that will burden their conscience when they realize the truth of what is involved.

Stem cell research has been conducted, around the world, for over thirty years. There are two types of stem cell research- adult and embryonic. Adult stem cells can be obtained from something as simple as nasal mucous. Embryonic stem cells can only be derived from the destruction of a human embryo, the earliest stage of human life.

Adult stem cell research appears to offer significant hope for cures of debilitating illnesses and recovery from crippling injuries. Indeed, on election day, adult stem cell research showed significant promise in targeting 72 specific illnesses and types of permanent injuries.

On that same day, when Missouri voters made human egg harvesting, human cloning and creating human life with the intent to destroy it a part of their state constitution, thirty years of embryonic stem cell research had produced no hope whatsoever.

The Coalition Of Americans For Research Ethics has compiled a pdf (Adobe Reader) “scorecard” detailing the potential benefit to mankind in the area of adult stem cell research vs the utter lack of potential in embryonic stem cells: Stem Cell Research Score Card.

Despite the cruelly misleading implications of the campaign ads, the destruction of human embryos offers no hope for potential cure to Michael J Fox or anyone else desperately praying for a scientific miracle. As for the Fox controversy, Dr Mary L Davenport, a fellow of the American College Of Obstetrics And Gynecology, has summarized the emptiness of the bogus campaign far more succinctly than anyone else. We refer you to her article, published by the American Thinker: The Unconscionable Claims Of Michael J Fox.

God has endowed man with the intelligence to explore and develop medical science. As we delve deeper into His miraculous gift of life, we have learned to extend our time on earth and to improve the quality of that time. Medical science is clearly part of God’s plan.

God has also endowed man with a basic sense of morality and an understanding of what is right and wrong. And no matter how the ugly facts of abortion are euphemized and glossed over, human life exists in an embryo and it is wrong for man to wantonly destroy it.

As medical science advances, the questions of what is human life, and whether certain stages of life are more “valuable” than others will become heavily debated. Political referendums asking voters to decide these issues will become prevalent. Abortion, Inc will continue to spend heavily to cloud the issues and facts with euphemisms and false promise. It is up to us to take the time to thoroughly understand the issues, facts and implications underlying these referendums, or live with the knowledge that our miscast vote helped to buy that murderous pig in a poke.

There is no need for euphemism or distortion of truth when the facts are on one’s side. It requires only two simple statements to present the case against embryonic stem cell research: What is right is Working. What is wrong is not.
