Governor Romney Drops Out

Sanctimonious bigotry helps lose the day for America

Governor Mitt Romney has dropped out of the republican primaries. Though there will never be a perfect candidate, Governor Romney was the closest thing to a Ronald Regan style conservative, with a realistic chance of winning the White House, we’ve seen in quite a while.

For those who voted for Sen McCain or Gov Huckabee, solely on the issues, we extend “agree to disagree” congratulations. Our personal preference from here would be Gov Huckabee, but even he doesn’t believe that’s going to happen.

Those who voted against Gov Romney, solely on the basis of his Mormon faith, (see “Christian Mirror On The Wall”) may now survey the results wrought by their sanctimonious bigotry.

George Bush has been a poor president, the ruin of the republican party and a disaster for conservative interests in America. And the republican party, as a whole, has been no better. After six years of complete control of the government, the republican record amounted to a horribly mismanaged war, wide open borders and one of the most shameful government spending sprees in the history of American politics.

In 2006, the Christian and conservative base had rightly had enough, leaving Nancy Pelosi & Co to reap the reward. Any type of conventional wisdom should easily project a democratic president in 2009.

But the democratic party, hung by the purse strings of the MoveOn distant left, seems bent upon out self-destructing the clueless GOP. Candidates Clinton, Obama and Edwards are die hard “progressives”- radical, socialist liberals. Three leftists revamping, with vengeance, the tired old McGovern, Mondale and Carter rhetoric that the American people have overwhelmingly rejected time and again.

And therein, laid the hope. A truly conservative republican candidate, offering a clear choice. If history is any indication, a true conservative candidate would roll over any one of the three democratic choices. Without rehashing the points made in Christian Mirror, Gov Mitt Romney was the one republican candidate who would have offered that clear choice to the American people in November.

But certain segments of the Christian(??) electorate mounted a concerted campaign to destroy Mitt Romney because of the manner in which he worships Jesus Christ. What can we say, except to paraphrase Matthew: “Woe To Ye Hypocrites”

So, on November 5, we will have a president who supports the destruction of life via futile embryonic stem cell research, refuses to support a constitutional amendment protecting marriage, has been a leading proponent of open borders and amnesty, and will mandate a “global warming” tax on gasoline. And that’s just if McCain wins.

How’s that workin’ for ya, ye hypocrites?
